Freeform to Straightline Remodel

Designer: Mike Farley
Project Manager: Jesse Channell

We started with a freeform diver with a sunken kitchen all 18” below the house finish floor the new owner wanted a more contemporary style project. We had to tear down an existing brick wall to enter backyard, the brick was used on the outdoor kitchen to match the home. Compacted road base filled in the old pool void and sunken kitchen and the pool level was raised to level with the new nano doors from the family room. The spa was located as a primary focal point for the living room and access to the existing master bedroom deck. Spa elevation was between the family room and master bedroom deck and provided a transition between. Matching glass tile for the waterline, step risers, grill backsplash, raised beam and spa veneer sparkled. Kitchen was recessed to the side and helped screen the existing wood deck, The deck new horizontal rails matched the planks used to replace the front brick wall, removed for access. Metal raised planters were used to contain the bamboo privacy screen on the property line and provide accent planters at the front wall. Silver Turkish travertine blended the grey contemporary colors and the house brick. Finished with a black pebblesheen to provide a high contrast and reflective surface this paradise is now complete.
