Inground Pools FAQs

At Claffey Pools, we’ve spent more than 30 years helping people’s pool dreams come true.

Working alongside all types of people in yards of all shapes and sizes, we’ve put together a list of some of the most frequently asked questions that we come across when building customized pools for our customers.

Whether you’ve decided on the type of pool you want or you are still at the early stages of the process, take a look at the questions below to get more information on how we build quality pools across Southlake Texas, Colleyville & Coppell.

When is the best time of year to build a pool?

Building a new inground pool typically takes between 12-16 weeks, but this can vary depending on the type of pool you’re having, your yard’s specifications, and any unforeseen complexities that may impact turnaround time.

With all this in mind, you should consider when you want your pool to be ready to use, factoring in the average 12-16 weeks building time.

Often, fall or winter is considered the best time to build a pool as you can guarantee that there is enough time for it to be ready for the summer months when you’re likely to use it the most.

Understandably, most people begin thinking about building a pool in their yard during the spring or summer months. Given the timescales involved to build a pool, as well as waiting lists at this time of year, you could find builds are delayed. Therefore, you should consider booking well in advance to make sure the pool is ready in time.

What type of inground pool is best?

There are so many different types of inground swimming pools to choose from, and it can be difficult to know what is best for you.

At Claffey Pools, we always take a customized approach with our customers, and will craft a design that best complements your unique lifestyle and property.

Whether you know exactly what you want or require some more guidance from us, we’ll place your needs at the heart of everything we do.

What is a good pool size and depth?

On average, a domestic pool will be around 16 feet – 32 feet and have a depth of between 3 feet – 4 feet. Again, this will vary significantly depending on the unique specifications of your project.

How much does an inground pool cost?

Every pool we build is unique, and is completely customized to the needs of the client. This means that costs vary significantly depending on the type of build.

Factors that will influence a pool cost will include:

  • Size of the pool
  • Shape of the pool
  • Pool materials
  • Site conditions
  • Additional features
  • And more

Before we begin work, we’ll make sure to discuss all costs associated with the build with you, ensuring you understand everything for full transparency. This means you won’t need to worry about any hidden costs, as everything will be factored in from the start.

How long does an inground pool last?

Pool longevity can vary, but if properly looked after and maintained there is no reason why you can’t enjoy your pool for a lifetime.

We offer various warranties depending on the build, which we can discuss with you before we start work.

How can an inground pool be winterized?

During the colder months, it’s important that your pool is able to cope with the freezing conditions that Texas can often experience.

Winterizing is the process of reducing certain pool processes and putting preparations in place to ensure no damage occurs to your pool or its systems during the winter.

There are a number of steps you can take to properly winterize a pool, the details of which you can find on our winterizing page.

These are just a few of the common inground pool questions that we receive from customers, but we have a comprehensive list over on our FAQs page.
