Reenvisioned Freeform Remodel
Designer: Duffy Hennessy
Project Manager: Shawn Scoggins
This project began as a $16,000 remodel. The wife had a list of repairs given to salesperson at first the first meeting, some of which included a desired lazy river. Her husband wanted nothing to do with it as he was in dissatisfied that the pool would cut off the full use of his large backyard. After meeting with the husband for the first time I expressed, “your wife wants to add a lazy river, but said you don’t want anything to do with it”. His comment... “Can you do it?” The rest they say is history.
The existing pool, with small negative edge tank had many problems and challenges. To eliminate the problem areas we removed the negative edge tank, leaving the upper pool area. In addition to the existing a new lower pool was added and consisted of 3 river flow pumps, lazy river, slide, grotto, waterfalls, floor cleaning system and an impressive negative edge waterfall. The lower pool was dug to 9’ deep to allow the swimmers to jump from upper pool into the lower. The water wall also allows the swimmers to rock climb up the wall if they choose to not use the steps built up to the upper pool.
The project also includes an outdoor living cabana with four beers on tap, soda dispenser and 72” drop down screen for viewing movies while in pool. The cabana has glass enclosure with air conditioning and heat allowing for year round entertainment. Also includes a bathroom with shower and sauna.
Another amazing part of this project is that the amp load for the new features required to double the electric load for the entire house. Since the house electric service had to be upgraded the owner wanted us to install a natural gas generator for the house.
This project has two great aspects. It has a beauty in the workmanship and flow with the entire yard. At night when all the LED lights (18’) are along with the landscape lighting it is breath taking. Best of all, it is a pool that has an aspect of total fun the entire family.
