Modern Knife Edge Escape

Designer & Project Manager: Brian Claffey

The entire project was focused around an old metal fireplace box found on the side of the road by the homeowner that he sold in a garage sale which was $75.00. Once the chimney was installed all in I had $900.00 for a 15’ tall fireplace that works great!

In designing this pool my main objective is to have no furniture blocking the pool. Regardless of where you’re at inside the home your view of the pool is never blocked or cluttered with furniture. Incorporating straight lines along with some soft curves allowed this pool to take on its own shape. In efforts to be different, we incorporate a couple features such as a knife edge scupper system along the front side of the pool and IPE wood decking along the backside. To give the appearance of a “floating dock” we cantilevered the wood dock over the water’s edge by 12” giving the appearance that it’s floating… Within the dock we have 5 leaper jets from Crystal Fountains which dance from show to show illuminating the different colors. Throughout the pool there are a series of casted brass scuppers which also enhance the effect when viewing. Installing an in-floor cleaning system along with different landscape pockets around the pool has allowed this backyard to be somewhat maintenance free and never cluttered.
